OB Bilous, Lead Director
OB Bilous was named Chairman of the International SEMATECH Board of Directors in April 2000. Mr. Bilous previously served on the board for 10 years representing IBM, from which he retired in February 2000.

Mr. Bilous joined IBM in 1960 and has held various management positions including research scientist, laboratory director, plant manager and general manager. From 1990 until his retirement he was General Manager and Vice President of World Wide Manufacturing at IBM's Microelectronics Division, responsible for the management of 12 fabricators located in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.

He served on the boards of SMST (a joint venture between IBM and Philips Semiconductors based in Germany); ALTIS Semiconductor (a joint venture between IBM and Infineon Technologies based in France), and Dominion Semiconductor (a joint venture between IBM and Toshiba based in the United States).

Mr. Bilous holds 15 patents and has published numerous articles and presented in many conferences and technical meetings in the area of semiconductor technology.

     
     

Ullas Naik
Ullas is a Managing Director based in Globespan's Boston office. He has led Globespan's investments in BladeLogic, Certeon, GlassHouse Technologies, Millennial Net, Nantero, Pirus Networks (acquired by Sun Microsystems), and Revivio. Ullas is also actively involved with Globespan's investments in Copan, Incipient, m-Qube, Silicon Dimensions, and Virtusa.

Prior to Globespan, Ullas was a Managing Director in JAFCO Venture's Boston office, where he was responsible for several of the firm's software and infrastructure investments. Prior to JAFCO Ventures, Ullas was a Senior Vice President in the Technology Research Group at FAC-Equities/First Albany. At FAC-Equities, he led the public financings of companies including IDT Corp. (IDTC), Critical Path (CPTH), Forrester Research (FORR), Mainspring (MSPR - acquired by IBM), NaviSite (NAVI), and USWeb (USWB - acquired by MarchFirst). During his tenure at FAC-Equities, Ullas was rated by Fortune magazine as a Wall Street "All Star" and by The Wall Street Journal as one the top technology analysts in the country.

While at FAC-Equities, Ullas was an active angel investor in leading technology companies including Arbinet (ARBX), Critical Path (CPTH), Ecora, InterTrust (ITRU), iRobot and others. He began his career as the founder and operator of a specialty chemicals trading company in India. Ullas received an MBA from Bentley College and a BS in Chemistry from Bombay University.

     
 

 

 

Bruce Sachs
Bruce brings twenty years experience in the telecommunications, networking, Internet and computing industries to Charles River Ventures. Bruce is a director of several private and public companies, including Flarion Technologies, WaterCove Networks, Celerica, Cedar Point Communications, SnowShore Networks, Acopia Networks and Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRTX). Previously, Bruce served on the boards of American Internet, C-Port, Arrowpoint (Nasdaq:ARPT) and Media 100 (Nasdaq:MDEA).

Bruce brings proven expertise in formulating business strategy, building organizations, and navigating companies to successful outcomes to his investments at Charles River Ventures. Prior to joining Charles River Ventures, Bruce served as executive vice president and general manager of Ascend's (now Lucent Technologies, NASDAQ:LU) Carrier Signaling and Management Group. Bruce joined Ascend in October 1998 through its acquisition of Stratus Computer. At Stratus he served as president and CEO, repositioning the company through the integration of telecom software and services onto its traditional computing foundation.

Bruce started his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories and then served as a director of engineering at Memotec/Infinet. In 1989 he joined Xylogics as director of engineering and ultimately became CEO. Bruce led the company through a dramatic strategy and positioning reformulation, and in 1995, its acquisition by Bay Networks. He went on to serve as an executive vice president of Bay Networks (now a unit of Nortel Networks), completing four acquisitions in his first year and enhancing the company's position in key emerging telecommunications markets. Bruce holds a master of engineering in electrical engineering from Cornell University, an M.B.A. from Northeastern University and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Bucknell University.

     
     

Bill Tai
Bill is a General Partner at Charles River Ventures and leads the West Coast practice. Bill joined CRV in 2002 from Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). His investment focus encompasses early stage companies in enabling technologies (chips and software) and wireless technologies. He has worked with over 30 companies at their early stages as private companies.

Bill represents CRV as a director at several privately held companies: Nantero, Rosum and Staccato Communications. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Microtune (TUNE), Transmeta (TMTA) and IPinfusion (Chairman).His directorships have included Adicom Wireless, Award Software (AWRD), 8x8 (EGHT), ByAir (GWCom), Centrum Communications (COMS), Chemconnect, Ensemble Communications, iAsiaWorks (IAWK), IC Works (CY), IMGo (HKSE0067), Kinetic Tide Software, Network Peripherals (NPIX), RLX Technologies, Skytune (Broadlogic), Tradebeam and Vadem Corp.

Bill also led investments in RasterGraphics (RGFX), Terayon (TERN) and Slimdevices, and worked with Creative Technologies, ISSI, Microchip (MCHP), Premisys Communications, Radcom, Sharevision (CREAF), S3 Inc (SIII), and Vitesse on a passive basis.

Prior to his career in venture capital, Bill established the semiconductor practice at Alex Brown and Sons where he positioned public offerings for Adaptec, Atmel, Cirrus Logic, Dallas Semiconductor, Exar, and Zilog among others. Previously he held technical and marketing positions with LSI Logic.

Bill holds a B.S., with Honors, in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from Harvard Graduate School of Business. He is a past Officer and Director of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists.

     
 

 

Alex d'Arbeloff
Alex d'Arbeloff, a member of the MIT Corporation since 1989, was named Chairman of the MIT Corporation on July 1, 1997. He serves on various committees of the MIT Corporation including the Executive, Investment, Development and Membership Committees. In addition, Mr. d'Arbeloff taught classes at the Sloan School of Management, and developed and teaches classes in a course on management and entrepreneurship for engineering undergraduate and graduate students. In 1960, Mr. d'Arbeloff co-founded Teradyne, Inc., now a leading manufacturer of automatic test equipment and interconnection systems for the electronics and telecommunications industries. He served as president and chief executive officer until May 1997, and as chairman of the board from June 1997 until June 2000. Mr. d'Arbeloff is Chairman of the Board of Empirix, which offers testing solutions for the needs of communications equipment manufacturers, e-business, and enterprise call centers. He also serves on the boards of several private and non-profit institutions. Mr. d'Arbeloff received a lifetime achievement award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and was recently elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Born in France, Mr. d'Arbeloff lived in Paris and in South America before his family moved to the United States. He spent his adolescence in the New York area. He came to Massachusetts in 1945 to attend MIT, earning the SB in Management from the Institute in 1949. Alex and his wife Brit, also an MIT alum, reside in Brookline, Massachusetts. They have four grown children, and one grandchild, who live in Massachusetts, California, and the Netherlands.
     
    Jennifer Fonstad
Jennifer is a Managing Director at Draper Fisher Jurvetson. She currently serves on the
Boards of Achex, eBenefits, Global Sight, Ipedo, Ivus, NetZero (NASDAQ: NZRO), Saltare,
and Troika Networks. Ms. Fonstad also led the firm's investments in iShip (acquired by
Stamps.com, NASDAQ: STMP), Abuzz Technologies (acquired by the New York Times,
NYSE: NYT), Athenahealth, iDrive, Lumenos, and Telution. Prior to DFJ, she worked
with SensAble Technologies, a start-up pioneering three-dimensional haptics solutions.
Previously, at the Planning Technologies Group (acquired by Michael Milken's Knowledge
Universe, NASDAQ: NXRA), she led a team in the design, prototyping, testing, and launch
of a new health-information system. Ms. Fonstad began her career with Bain & Company.
She holds a BS Cum Laude from Georgetown University and an MBA with Distinction from
the Harvard Business School.
