JOB TITLE: Pilot Plant Engineer

The Opportunity:

This is an entry level position working in our pilot group to provide high purity, low defect CNT thin film precursor solutions for internal and external electronics applications. The position will require cross team coordination between pilot, QC, and R&D teams to support POR solutions to internal and external customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Scaling-up, monitoring, and improving existing unit processes.
  • Assuring all unit process equipment is operating in a safe manner.
  • Creating, documenting, and implementing unit process SOPs for internal pilot use as well as for transfer to licensees.
  • Work closely with R&D to ensure transition of maturing development projects into pilot.
  • Trouble shooting an out of spec process and determining root cause.
  • Record, analyze, and document data.
  • Some shift work – 2nd, 3rd, or weekend shifts maybe required based upon customer demands.
  • Help support Formulation-QC for pilot batches following QC SOPs.  Some of those tests may require work with
    • pH & ISE probes
    • UV-vis
    • TGA
    • SEM/AFM
    • Adhesion testing.
  • Assist R&D with identifying and testing new QC methods


Required Qualifications:

  • 0-3+ years of chemical process engineering related industrial experience, depending on education.
  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent science also acceptable.
  • Knowledge of statistics and analysis.
  • Ability to design and execute experiments for process development/improvement.
  • Ability to wear a respirator or all required PPE.

 

Knowledge/Skills preferred but not required:

  • Knowledge of carbon nanotubes
  • Analytical techniques for carbon nanotube analysis.
  • Cross flow filtration / Tangential Flow Filtration
  • Depth filtration
  • Centrifugation
  • Ion Exchange
  • Colloids
  • Experience in working in a clean room environment with working knowledge of particle and micro contamination control, process control.
  • Experience working in corrosive environments and operating reactors with hazardous materials.
  • SPC
  • GMP
